Organizational Assessment

Using our Pyramid of Organizational Development as a "lens", we identify your business' strengths and limitations in relation to key areas of organizational performance. We present the audit findings in a written report and provide you with detailed recommendations that address the critical issues facing your organization as they pertain to:

  • Markets
  • Products and Services
  • Resources
  • Operational Systems
  • Management Systems
  • Corporate Culture

The output of the audit is a written report of findings concerning the strengths and limitations of the organization, our assessment of how serious the problems are, and a set of action-oriented recommendations for dealing with the problems and preparing the company for future growth.

How is the Organizational Audit/Assessment Conducted?

A ManagementSystems audit/assessment is conducted in four steps: information collection, data analysis, written report, and report presentation and action steps workshop.

Step 1: Information Collection

a) Interviews

A Management Systems consulting team interviews selected individuals to identify the firm's current strengths and developmental opportunities. The number of interviews conducted typically depends on the firm's size.

b) Surveys

We administer two proprietary surveys to all those interviewed (and sometimes to additional people). The Growing Pains Survey measures the extent to which firms are experiencing growth-related problems. The Organizational Effectiveness Survey assesses the extent to which a firm has developed the systems and processes needed to be successful, given its stage of growth. It also assesses the extent to which the firm is experiencing problems at each level in the Pyramid of Organizational Development.

c) Review of Company Materials

ManagementSystems reviews your firm's written materials, including organization charts, existing plans, job descriptions, and marketing materials.

Step 2: Data Analysis

After all input has been collected, an experienced Management Systems team analyzes and synthesizes the data collected from the interviews and surveys.

Step 3: Written Report

The output of our analysis is a written report of findings from the interviews and survey data, as well as action-oriented recommendations for your organization's development.

Step 4: Report Presentation and Action Steps Workshop

In addition to providing a written report of findings, we typically conduct a half- to full-day meeting to walk the firm's management team through the report, and discuss action steps for implementation of the recommendations.
