The paper celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Flamholtz’s seminal paper on the Human Resource Accounting approach to taking people into account, providing a critical review of its progress since that time and offering some thoughts on how the project might now be beneficially shaped.
As part of our continuing research and publications activities, a joint authored article by Eric Flamholtz, Yvonne Randle, and our Chinese affiliates Simon Kuang Yaojun, Tony Wong Xiaohong, and Ivy Sun Qian, titled "Successfully Managing the Hidden Danger of Rapid Growth: Theoretical Framework, Measurement Tools, and Practical Applications" was published earlier this year in the American Journal of Theoretical and Applied Business. There is increasing recognition that most of current management theory is weak or empty. The weakness of most of current management theory results from a very simple cause: the failure to apply the scientific method of empirical research to the creation and testing of management concepts, frameworks, methods and tools.
